Saturday Historic House Workshops!

Historic York, Inc.’s key mission is to provide information about the care and maintenance of historic properties. Every month, Historic York, Inc. and the Architectural Warehouse offer an ongoing series of Saturday Historic House Workshops targeted to the owners, and aspiring owners of older and historic homes. A key educational and outreach component of the organization, the Historic House Workshops have been very well received with many members and friends taking advantage of the free or low-cost programs since they were introduced in the Summer of 2007. Workshop attendees have the opportunity to learn from a broad variety of preservation professionals on a range of topics including: working with architects and contractors; roofing on historic buildings; historic windows; and masonry and pointing. The workshops include either visual presentations or hands-on demonstrations followed by a question and answer time. Workshops are $10 per person and free to Historic York, Inc. members unless otherwise stated.

Key to the programs success is the interaction between preservation professionals and participants. Historic York, Inc. welcomes professionals who are interested in developing workshop programs. Architects, designers, craft and trades people who have ideas for future program topics, and are interested in volunteering as presenters, are encouraged to contact, Karen Arnold, Executive Director at (717) 843-0320 x 108 or karnold@historicyork.org.
